SIGG的CEO承认在2008年8月前生产的水壶内涂层含有有毒成分BPA, 在此之前, SIGG一直否认自己的水壶含有该成分.  SIGG的新水壶内涂层叫EcoCare, 不含BPA. 现有的用有毒BPA水壶的用户可以免费以旧换新, 换不含BPA的新水壶.

SIGG的CEO Steve Wasik的解释是发信给liners@mysigg.com询问如何以旧换新的细节. "I have passed your note to our Customer Service Department. They will contact you directly to help you to exchange your old SIGG bottles for new SIGG bottles with the BPA-free EcoCare liner. This is a voluntary exchange program (not a recall as the bottles you have are still safe). Therefore, we are asking people who wish to exchange the bottles to pay the postage for sending them in and we pay the postage for sending them to you. I think this is fair."
