Core Loft is a polyester synthetic insulation similar to other synthetic insulations we use like Thermatek using a combination of finer yarns (1 denier) and a larger yarns (3.5 denier). The combination of fibers are crimped to help trap air molecules which in turn help trap body heat while the larger yarns (3.5 Denier) provide loft and resilience from compression. The fibers are then siliconized to help add resistance to moisture and decrease drying time.
Coreloft is used in jackets that are best at being packable + lightweight and are best at more active pursuits or as a replacement to a thick fleece mid layer. 100 g/m2 is about as warm as a 300 weight fleece but a lot more wind/water resistant and lighter weight. 200g/m2 of a similar synthetic insulation that we use is Primaloft which is warmer and therefore used for colder weather or less intensity activities and they are about twice as warm.
